Anodesyn ointment relieves the pain and irritation associated with external piles.

What are Piles (haemorrhoids)?
Piles (haemorrhoids) are lumps inside and around your bottom (anus). They often get better on their own after a few days. There are things you can do to treat and prevent piles.
Symptoms of piles include:
- bright red blood after you poo
- an itchy anus
- feeling like you still need to poo after going to the toilet
- slimy mucus in your underwear or on toilet paper after wiping your bottom
- lumps around your anus
- pain around your anus
What you should do if you have piles
-
drink lots of fluid and eat plenty of fibre to keep your poo soft
-
wipe your bottom with damp toilet paper
-
take paracetamol if piles hurt
-
take a warm bath to ease itching and pain
-
use an ice pack wrapped in a towel to ease discomfort
-
gently push a pile back inside
-
keep your bottom clean and dry
-
exercise regularly
-
cut down on alcohol and caffeine (like tea, coffee and cola) to avoid constipation
What You should not do when you have Piles
-
do not wipe your bottom too hard after you poo
-
do not ignore the urge to poo
-
do not push too hard when pooing
-
do not take painkillers that contain codeine, as they cause constipation
-
do not take ibuprofen if your piles are bleeding
-
do not spend more time than you need to on the toilet
How To Use
Apply it directly to the pile.
Adults, the elderly and children over 12 years
• Wash hands before and after use.
• Wash the affected area with tepid water, dry and apply the ointment with your finger, gauze or lint.
• Re-apply the ointment as required.
• Avoid contact with the eyes.
Children under 12 years Do not use on children under 12 unless your doctor tells you to.
FOR EXTERNAL USE ONLY.
If your symptoms have not gone away after 7 days of treatment, you should ask your doctor for advice

Before you use this medicine
Do not use the medicine if you have….
• An allergy to any of the ingredients listed in section 6.
Talk to your doctor if you have….
• Symptoms that have not cleared up after using the ointment for 7 days.
• Persistent pain or bleeding from the anus (especially if there is a change in bowel movements).
• A swollen stomach or you are losing weight.
Pregnant or breastfeeding….
Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medicine if you are pregnant, might be pregnant or are breastfeeding.
Lidocaine, one of the active ingredients, can be absorbed through the skin and pass into breast milk.
Important information about some of the ingredients
• This product contains wool fat which may cause local skin reactions (e.g. contact dermatitis).
Storing this medicine
• Keep it out of the sight and reach of children.
• Do not store above 25°C.
• Do not use after the expiry date shown on the carton. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
• Medicine should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of
any unused medicine. These measures will help to protect the environment.
Side Effects
Like all medicines, Anodesyn Ointment can have side effects, although these don’t affect everyone.
• Allergic reactions may occur (rash, itching, wheezing).
If you notice this or any other side effect not included above, stop use and tell your doctor or pharmacist. They
will tell you what to do.
